Libreville, Gabon - As part of a weeklong visit to the Gulf of Guinea region, U.S. Africa Command's civilian deputy Ambassador J. Anthony Holmes, center, visited the headquarters of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) November 29, 2011. Joined by Ambassador Eric Benjaminson, U.S. Ambassador to Gabon, they met with Secretary General Louis Sylvain-Goma to discuss the current status of ECCAS, security priorities and potential areas of future cooperation. Visits such as this ensure that military cooperation is well coordinated between senior leadership and provides an opportunity to hear directly from the region's leaders to better understand their defense and security-related issues.
