African Lion
African Lion is an annually scheduled, bilateral U.S. and Moroccan sponsored exercise designed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding of each nation's tactics, techniques and procedures.

African Lion is an annually scheduled, bilateral U.S. and Moroccan sponsored exercise designed to improve interoperability and mutual understanding of African partner nation's (APN) tactics, techniques and procedures.

African Lion 2015 was a U.S. African Command-sponsored, Marine Forces Africa (MARFORAF)-led exercise that involved various types of training including command post, live-fire and maneuvering, peace keeping operations, an intelligence capacity building seminar, aerial refueling/low-level flight training, as well as medical and dental assistance projects.

Approximately 1,200 U.S. military personnel from the U.S., Egypt, Morrocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Tunisia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Austria, and Portugal traveled to various regions of the Kingdom of Morocco to take part in African Lion 2015. 

AL16 intends to enhance U.S., APN, western partner nations (WPN), and regional organizations' capabilities and interoperability to contain regional instability, conduct peace operations, counter violent extremist organizations (VEOs), maintain cross-boarder security, and counter transnational threats.
