MCAS El Toro - The Department of the Navy has issued an Action Memorandum for a TCRA to address potential explosive safety hazards on private property adjacent to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Training Range as well as addressing naphthalene-impacted soil on the EOD Training Range. The Navy invites interested members of the public to review and comment on the Action Memorandum during a 30-day Public Comment Period, from November 1 to November 30, 2016.

The Navy's Environmental Cleanup in north Mare Island requires temporary road closures. J Street will be closed for the duration of the work and the northbound lane of Azuar Drive between J and I Street will be closed daily from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.during trucking activities, which are expected to last approximately 4 weeks in November. Traffic control personnel (Flaggers) will direct traffic on this portion of Azuar Drive during the lane closure. The lane closure barricades on Azuar Drive will be removed at the end of each work day to re-open traffic on the northbound lane.

The Navy, in coordination with the California Department of Toxic Substances Control and California Regional Water Quality Control Board announces the approval of the Final Record of Decision/Final Remedial Action Plan (ROD/Final RAP) for the Installation Restoration Site 17 (IR17) and Building 503 Area at the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard. The ROD/Final RAP was signed by the Navy on September 23, 2016; Department of Toxic Substances Control on September 26, 2016; and San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board on September 30, 2016.
