Two Dead in Separate Collisions on Arizona Highways

One dead in wrong way collision in Yuma; one dead in collision in Rock Springs, north of Phoenix.

The driver of the Honda passenger vehicle, David Bealer, 60, from Yuma, was transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center in critical condition. While being transferred to a hospital in the Phoenix area, Bealer succumbed to his injuries and died.

Yuma, Ariz. - Two vehicles collided head-on westbound along Interstate 8 at milepost 1.7, near Giss Parkway. One vehicle was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic at the time of the collision.

On Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at about 8:15 a.m., a Buick passenger vehicle driven by Dorothy Paul, 80, from Yuma, was traveling the wrong way along I-8. The vehicle was traveling eastbound within the westbound lanes of traffic. A Honda passenger vehicle, driven by a 60-year-old male subject, was traveling westbound along I-8 when his vehicle was struck head-on by the Buick.

Dorothy Paul died at the scene from her injuries.
The male subject was initially transported to the Yuma Regional Medical Center; he was eventually transferred to a medical center in Phoenix and is in critical condition. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.


Rock Springs, Ariz.
– Two vehicles collided on southbound Interstate 17 at milepost 242 causing both vehicles to roll over.

On Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at about 9:02 a.m., a Suzuki passenger vehicle was traveling northbound along Interstate 17 at milepost 242, in the area of Rock Springs. The Suzuki traveled through the median and then entered the southbound lanes of traffic wrong way and collided with a Toyota pickup. The pickup rolled over and both vehicles came to final rest off the right side of the road.


Charles Kenney, age 55 of Mayer, died at the scene from his injuries; he was driving the Suzuki passenger vehicle. Bryan Stewart, age 42 of Phoenix, was transported to HonorHealth John C. Lincoln Medical Center for treatment of his injuries; he was driving the Toyota pickup. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
