DTIC's collections contain information that is:

Classified Confidential or Secret
Unclassified but sensitive, therefore distribution is limited, i.e. controlled (Unclassified, Limited UL)
Unclassified and available for public release (Unclassified, Unlimited U2)

Protect privacy
Protect copyrighted material
Proprietary information about companies that work for the DoD
Contractor performance evaluations by government monitors
Software documentation
Administrative or operational use by the controlling organization
Premature dissemination would harm the national interest
Direct military support is being provided
Information regarding foreign governments
Test or evaluation results of military hardware or processes
Technology deemed militarily critical (export controlled) and not to be shared with other nations
Information to be safeguarded due to law, regulation, or other DoD guidance
