Carcass tags

Paper carcass tags are required for tagging deer and can be printed at home, at a DNR service center or at a DNR license agent for a $2 processing fee.

Carcass movement restrictions are in place to seek to prevent the spread of CWD. There are also recommended practices to reduce and prevent the spread of CWD [PDF] that can be done through voluntary implementation by Wisconsin citizens.

Bonus antlerless tags

Bonus antlerless tags are now available for purchase in DMUs that offer them. Antlerless tags are zone, DMU and land type-specific (public access or private land), but are not weapon-specific.

The first three days of sales are zone specific:

  • August 15 for Northern and Central Forest Zones
  • August 16 for Central Farmland Zone
  • August 17 for Southern Farmland Zone
  • August 18 all remaining bonus tags can be purchased until sold out or the season ends.

Bonus tags cost $12.00 for residents, $20.00 for nonresidents and $5.00 for 10 and 11 year olds. Bonus tags can be purchased online at Go Wild, at a DNR service center or at a DNR license agent.

Farmland (Zone 2) antlerless tags

Farmland (Zone 2) Antlerless Deer Tags [PDF] are now available for selection in DMUs that offer them. Antlerless tags are zone, DMU and land type-specific (public access or private land), but are not weapon-specific. You may select your tags at Go Wild or by visiting a DNR service center or a license agent.

Deer stands and blinds on DNR lands

If you hunt on DNR-managed lands – note that tree stands and ground blinds used on department-managed lands must be removed daily. For other types of property such as county or federally owned, contact the property manager to learn about their rules.
