Commander's Message

Welcome. Everyone involved with the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School is united by a common desire to make the world a better place. Our goal is to train exceptional leaders and generate the ideas and expertise that provide solutions to some of the most serious maritime threats which face governments around the globe.

Our area of expertise spans tactical, operational and strategic skill sets with a focus on small craft riverine and coastal operations, maintenance, professional military education and strategic level combating terrorism.

Some of our students whose contributions we are most proud of are the ones you may never have heard about: students working to interdict drug shipments in Central and South America, individuals striving to combat violent extremism in Africa and Asia, and other military and non-military leaders collaborating with the U.S. and other regional partners to solve issues that impact us all.

If you are a new student or staff, we welcome you into our global family with students from more than 100 countries. If you are a supporter, you can witness the impact your participation is having. And if you have thoughts about opportunities to promote service, training, or solutions, we hope you will find further insights here and perhaps work with us to do even more.

I believe that working and training at Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School is one of the best jobs in the world. When I see who our students are and what our graduates are doing, when I see the contributions our instructors and staff are making, and when I contemplate the intense sense of idealism and energy that pervades this school, I am truly humbled and inspired.

I am also struck by how much more each of us can and must do. As our motto says, we truly are “Stronger Together” and this, more than anything else, is what we must keep in our hearts and minds as we go about the challenging and rewarding work that lies ahead of us all.

Sincerely,

CDR CLAY M. PENDERGRASS
