How to Change Your Email Address

How to change your email address:

  1. Log in to Twitter.com and go to your settings page.
  2. Under Account settings, type your new email address into the Email field. (An email address can only be associated with one Twitter account at a time.)
  3. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
  4. A dialog box will appear asking you to confirm your Twitter password. Enter your password in the box and click Save changes.
  5. You'll see a yellow reminder message on your Home page asking you to confirm your email change. It will stay there until you confirm your new email address (see steps below).

Twitter never shares your email address with third parties. Friends using the contact import feature to find email contacts may locate your profile if you are one of their contacts, but your email address will never be revealed.

How to confirm your email address change:

    1. Log in to the email inbox for the address you just updated. You should see a new email from Twitter. Open it.
    2. Click on the confirmation link in that email.
    3. You should then be directed to your Twitter account. Your change is now complete!
    4. You will also receive an email notification at your old email address - no action is needed and this is not a confirmation of the email address change, just an alert.
Warning: If you do not complete the confirmation process above, your email will not be changed. Twitter uses your email address to let you know about changes to your account. It is important you know what email address is associated with your account at all times.
