Environmental Assessment for Cameron Council on Aging Senior Center, Grand Lake, Cameron Parrish, LA (June 2010)

The need for the proposed action is to restore the community’s senior center and its auxiliary structures which were destroyed on September 24, 2005 by Hurricane Rita. As a result of Hurricane Rita, the senior center facilities in Cameron were damaged to such an extent that FEMA has approved the replacement of the facility along with two connected structures. In accordance with the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, PL93-288, as amended, The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), the President’s Council on Environmental Quality regulations implementing NEPA (40 CFR 1500-1508) and FEMA’s implementing regulations at 44 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 206, FEMA is required to review the environmental effects of the proposed action prior to making a funding decision.
