Environmental Assessment for Waldo County Emergency Operation Center, City of Belfast, County of Waldo, Maine (June 2010)

This grant will be used to construct a new public facility to replace the inadequate and inefficient 2,700 square foot office area located in the basement of the old County Jail. Much of the current space is wasted in wide and lengthy hallways and stairwells. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) regulations implementing NEPA (40 Code of Federal Regulations [CFR] Parts 1500 through 1508), and FEMA regulations of NEPA compliance (44 CFR Part 10), FEMA must fully understand and consider the environmental consequences of actions proposed for federal funding. The purpose of this Environmental Assessment (EA) is to meet FEMA’s responsibilities under NEPA and to 2 determine whether to prepare a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) or a Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed project.
