Alert and Notification Systems (ANS) are part of the licensing requirement for Commercial Nuclear Power Plants. Offsite Response Organizations (ORO) demonstrate the use of ANS based on the information contained here as a part of the licensing process.

The Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program provides technicians literature that contains the overall federal responsibility for offsite radiological emergency planning and preparedness functions along with the alert warning system used to inform communities of HAZMAT dangers.
