Patient Safety Professional (PS Prof) Course

The PS Prof Diamond includes the PS Prof's role as a Patient Safety Expert, a Leader, in Improving Perofrmance & Measuring Impact, and in Identifying & Mitigating Risk.

The Patient Safety Professional (PS Prof) Course is a five-day, highly interactive course designed for new Patient Safety Professionals (PS Profs) who have been in their role less than one year. The PS Prof course provides an overview of patient safety standards, practices, and resources, including:

  • Human factors
  • Systems approach
  • Safety culture
  • Quality management
  • Performance improvement
  • Data collection, analysis and feedback
  • Risk identification and mitigation

In addition to the classroom portion of the course, participants will be expected to complete approximately 4-6 hours of pre-work prior to attending the course and take part in virtual (online) continuing professional development and feedback sessions for 12 months following the course. This course is fully accredited through the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) and the following credits are available: ACHE, ACPE, CERP, CME, CCNE, APA, IACET CEU.

The next PS Prof course will be held October 24-28, 2016 in Falls Church, VA.
