About Us

The 48th Medical Group supports the combat capability of the 48th Fighter Wing, 100th Air Refueling Wing, 501st Combat Support Wing and 352nd Special Operations Wing by offering primary and specialty health care services to more than 35,000 eligible beneficiaries totaling 149,000 outpatient encounters and 2,000 inpatient encounters annually at 6 operating locations throughout the U.K. and Norway. The 48 MDG also completes 67,000 dental visits, 183,000 laboratory procedures 1,550 surgeries and 450 infant deliveries per year.

The 48 MDG provides direct and operational expeditionary medical support capability to the U.S. European Command, U.S. Africa Command and U.S. Central Command.

The 48 MDG has been named the Air Force Surgeon General's Best Hospital of the Year for 2009, 2010 and 2011, as well as U.S. Air Forces in Europe/Air Forces Africa Best Hospital in 2012 and 2013.

Labeled Patient Formulary
Host Nation Prescriptions for TRICARE Beneficiaries

The 48th Medical Group will fill prescriptions written by International SOS providers for eligible TRICARE beneficiaries effective 1 July 2015. Medications that are available to be filled can be identified using the "Labeled Patient Formulary" heading.

In addition to the TRICARE Overseas Program Provider Manual requirements, we request International SOS providers adhere to the following provisions in order to ensure the safe and accurate processing of prescriptions in our facility.

a. Write complete prescription directions with no abbreviations.
b. Include your General Medical Council registration number next to the provider stamp.
c. List one prescription per page for controlled substances.
d. Attach a copy of your medical notes listing the specific diagnosis and approximate length of therapy when writing for controlled substances.
Prescription Refills

All prescription refills must be telephoned in the day prior to pick-up. Call the Pharmacy Refill System at DSN 226-8091 or commercial 01638-52-8091. All medications must be collected within 5 working days.
Hours of Operation

Pharmacy hours are 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The pharmacy is closed on federal holidays, wing down days and the fourth Thursday of every month until 12:30 p.m. Contact number DSN 226-8347 or commercial 01638-52-8347.
