He was accompanied by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Deputy Administrator Joseph Nimmich.

Statement by Spokesperson Marsha Catron on Secretary Johnson's Upcoming trip to Louisiana

On August 18, Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson will visit Baton Rouge, La. to meet with state and local officials and review ongoing response and recovery efforts in areas affected by severe flooding. While in Baton Rouge, Secretary Johnson will participate in a media availability to discuss the relief and recovery efforts, including assistance by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Bretagne, the last surviving FEMA Search & Rescue K-9 from 9/11 was laid to rest on June 6. Thank you Bretagne, and to all the other working dogs, for all that you did to help us.Bretagne (pronounced Brit-nee), the last surviving Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Search & Rescue Canine from 9/11 was laid to rest on June 6, 2016. An invaluable partner to members of Texas Task Force 1, Bretagne was only 2 years old when she was deployed to the site of the World Trade Center in 2001. During her career, Bretagne responded to nearly a dozen other disasters, including Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ivan.  Thank you Bretagne, and to all the other working dogs, for all that you did to help us.
