BRAC Issues
Sir, I tried to ask this question of BG McManus however I did not use correct terminology. I do now understand why "no riff" however, what will we do for the airman who will have lost full time positions that have applied but end up not qualifying for available FT positions. I have been informed at the ACT meeting that although the starting grade will be lowered to make competition possible, our members will still have to compete. Having once been a maintenance troop, I can appreciate how difficult it will be for some of our folks to even qualify in a package. What happens to them?

Town Hall meeting feedback
Thank you for an informative meeting during December's drill. I have two items of feedback. My background: I served 9 years active USAF - two tours at EAFB, 2 years at Offutt AFB and one year at Keflavik Iceland. Moved to the Alaska Army NG in 1995, served at Ft Richardson until last year; I was a flight mechanic for a year, then 12 years as a C-23 crew chief - similar to C-130 loadmaster- and finally in a flight operations and training role for a year, until I transferred to the ANG and Kulis in August 2009 as a C-130 crew chief. It will currently be November 2010 before I can get to tech school, although I'm on the waiting list, which is only possible since my civilian employer is willing to lose me for six months with only two weeks notice. Waiting for so long for training is very discouraging, and makes recruiting difficult to sell. Second, this is my fourth drill, and IEU still has not managed to issue most of my equipment and uniforms. It is extremely difficult to even begin to become familiar with our aircraft when we don't have cold weather gear, or proper safety equipment to use on the flight line. Thank you, and I can be contacted privately at 350-5469 or tom.hogland@gmail.com Thanks, TSgt Hogland 176AMXS/MXAA
