VOLCANO CENTRAL

GENERAL INFO

Like other military units, the Alaska Air National Guard routinely repositions its assets in advance of volcano eruptions, major storms and other foreseeable natural events. The repositioning is done is such a way as to protect taxpayer assets and preserve the wing's ability to quickly respond to emergencies.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory continually monitors area volcanos. Their Mt. Redoubt page is the place to go for up-to-date status reports. They also provide a Redoubt Cam for those who demand visual proof.

The State of Alaska provides air quality alerts (click on map in the appropriate area). The Municipality of Anchorage provides both an Anchorage Air Quality web page and an Air Quality Hotline (907.343.4889).
