The Raleigh MEPS is one of 65 MEPS located in the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. The Raleigh MEPS moved to its current location on 18 November 1991 from 1330 St. Mary's Street. The leased facility is located off of Capital Boulevard, adjacent to I-440. The Raleigh MEPS is ideally located with direct access to the Raleigh Beltline which encircles the city. Raleigh MEPS has much for which it can be proud of, including; "Outstanding MEPS Award" for FY88, FY89, FY91. The mission of the Raleigh MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DOD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.

The Raleigh MEPS is one of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico.

A separate Department of Defense (DoD) agency, USMEPCOM is comprised of two geographical sectors and staffed with personnel from all military services.

The mission of USMEPCOM and the Raleigh MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.

Three primary areas are considered in determining an applicant's qualifications for enlistment:

  • aptitude for military service
  • physical qualification
  • background evaluation screening
