Prior to July 1983, the Phoenix MEPS, or AFEES, was located in downtown Phoenix. In July 1983, it was relocated to a national historical site, the Monroe School Building, at 215 N. 7th Street. The tall columns supporting the front of the building and the rustic wood and glass entrance etched a lasting impression upon everyone who entered.
In June 1998, the Phoenix MEPS moved to 1 North First Street, in downtown Phoenix, where it operated until January 2013. The Phoenix MEPS moved to its current location at 2800 N. Central Avenue in February 2013. The 2800 N. Central Tower is a 21-story Class A office building located in the heart of the Phoenix Midtown submarket.
The Phoenix MEPS is one of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico.
A separate Department of Defense (DoD) agency, USMEPCOM is comprised of two geographical sectors and staffed with personnel from all military services.
The mission of USMEPCOM and the Phoenix MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.
