The state of Louisiana conducts applicants briefings in Tangipahoa Parish to review the Public Assistance Programs with municipal and parish officials after damages caused by Hurricane Isaac.

The applicants briefing is the first formal step in the process in the interaction with the state and the local applicant. Its designed to educate the applicant, not only about public assistance program but also disaster specific situations that may be unique to the area. We outlined a process going forward and they get more information from the state about the disaster its self and the timeline for the process going forward.

Well I got a good overview of the process, the specific guidelines of whats eligible and not eligible, the incident period. Information about when the kick off meetings will take place.

It was real helpful this time. I know we were doing it during Katrina and we were lost. They've had a lot more information with this meeting, they showed us what forms we need, where to go get them. Thats the problem we had before, we didnt know what forms to get or where to go get them.

Its for the applicant, its for leaders of the government entities whether it be city government, whether it be parish government, we've had some 911 operators here anyone who is with the government or a private non profit who incurred damage or incurred some cost as a result of Hurricane Isaac.
