The Jacksonville MEPS, originally called the Jacksonville Armed Forces Examining and Entrance Station opened in 1966, at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida. In January 1972, the station moved to Art Museum Drive and remained there until August 1984. At which time the station was relocated to 4615 Philips Highway. In July 1997, the MEPS moved to 4051 Philips Highway, Ste 15 where it remained for approximately 13 years. In December 2010, the MEPS moved to its present location at 7178 Baymeadows Way. The Jacksonville MEPS has enlisted well over 109,898 men and women from within the area since it opened.
The Jacksonville MEPS is one of a network of 65 MEPS located nationwide and in Puerto Rico.
A separate Department of Defense (DoD) agency, USMEPCOM is comprised of two geographical sectors and staffed with personnel from all military services.
The mission of USMEPCOM and the Jacksonville MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services, based on DoD-approved peacetime and mobilization standards.
