SEATTLE—The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has authorized the use of federal funds to help with firefighting costs for the Karney Fire in Boise County, Idaho. FEMA Acting Regional Administrator Sharon Loper approved the state’s request for a federal Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) on September 18, 2012, at 2:18 p.m. PDT. At the time of the request, the fire had destroyed one residence and was threatening 100 additional residences.
