During the excavation phase of the new Basic Training Complex Four at Fort Jackson, the Charleston District discovered white phosphorous grenades on the site when smoke came out of the ground. The Charleston District's Regulatory team is currently reviewing the proposed project from the South Carolina Department of Transportation to construct 76 miles of highway in the state, known as Interstate 73, which will connect Myrtle Beach to Detroit, Michigan.
