Maj. Gen. Wehr pulled his commanders and senior leaders together for the regional summit meeting (R5) in Vicksburg in November to foster ways to work more effectively as a regional team to solve difficult challenges. The leaders developed a list of focus areas for FY 17 which include the following: Strengthen the Foundation (Doing the routine things to an exceptionally high standard, routinely.)
Deliver the Program (The most strategic thing we can do is deliver our mission…keep our promises.)
Achieve our Vision (Leading ourselves into an unknowable future…together.  Our compelling, better tomorrow.)

MG Wehr meets deserving Paratroopers during the 307th JRTC BN Award Ceremony on 22 September 2016 at Fort Bragg, NC, to include speaking at the Waal Crossing Wreath laying ceremony, commemorating WWII actions during Operation Market Garden.

This month MVD welcomes Dr.Ty Wamsley.  He is the Division's new Director of  the River Science and Technology Office. Dr. Wamsley comes to MVD from ERDC, where he served as Chief of the Flood and Storm Protection Division at the Coastal and Hydraulics laboratory.  Wamsley has bachelor's degrees in accounting and civil engineering, a Master's degree in coastal and ocean engineering from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in water resources engineering from Lund University in Sweden.  He began his career with the Corps of Engineers in 2000 and has had extensive experience coordinating and collaborating with USACE HQ, districts, and other state and federal agencies, as well as possessing considerable knowledge about the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico

Major General Michael Wehr and other MVD leaders hosted an Ice Cream social for the MVD staff the first week of October. The social is a yearly tradition that allows the leadership to serve the MVD staff as a symbol of their appreciation of the team’s hard work the previous fiscal year!

Geotourism acquaints tourists with local culture and traditions and offers them in-depth opportunities to enjoy an area's unique natural beauty and biodiversity.
