GARMISCH, Germany — Retired Rear Admiral Jean Dufourcq, Chief of the NATO Defense College Research Center, presents a global overview of security issues in the Mediterranean Sea area and greater Middle East during the opening session of the Senior Executive Seminar at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies here Aug. 28, 2006. More than 80 high-ranking military and government officials from 45 nations are participating in the ten-day seminar, which is conducted jointly by the Marshall Center and the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies. During the conference, which is scheduled to take place through Sept. 8, 2006, participants will analyze the effectiveness of current security institutions and processes and examine sub-regional approaches to Mediterranean security.
