Operations and Management

Navy Region Mid-Atlantic supports operating forces promoting readiness through the efficient operation of shore installations and effective, quality support to operational forces. The elements of this mission are the command of assigned shore activities and installations, serving as the Navy’s Regional Coordinator and Environmental Coordinator, delivering efficient and effective SIM services to assigned AOR and owning Class I and Class II property in assigned AOR.

N30 - Fire & Emergency Services

Mission: provide structural, shipboard, and aircraft fire fighting; hazardous material; technical rescue; ambulance transport; hazardous condition standby; disaster support; emergency de-watering; fire risk management; courtesy support; and public education.

N31 - Port Operations

Mission: provide ship movement (Tug, Harbormaster, Piloting services) and shore-to-ship mission support (At-Berth/”Hotel” Support, Magnetic Silencing, Waterborne Oil Spill Response) for U.S. and visiting foreign naval ships.

N32 - Air Operations

Mission: provide critical airfield operations and support and air traffic services to assigned, tenant, and transient U.S. and allied aircraft and aircrew.

N3AT - Security

Mission: to protect and provide a secure environment for personnel and assets who live, work, and visit Mid-Atlantic Region Navy installations and to implement clear region-wide policies to guide Navy Security Force personnel and customers.

N35 - Safety

Mission: to be the Navy’s recognized leader in providing a comprehensive range of effective and efficient safety services supporting operational readiness and protecting quality of life by establishing a safety conscious culture focusing on hazard control and the prevention of mishaps to over 500 shore commands, home-ported ships and squadrons.

N36 - Current/Future Operations

Mission: sustain continuous situational awareness and command and control capability for the Regional Commander through watch standers and assets assigned to the Regional Operations Center (ROC) and USCG Sector Command Center – Joint (SCC-J) and assist in development and execution of response plans for threats and hazards.

N37 - Emergency Management

Mission: in an emergency, or when directed, respond with assigned consequence management capabilities in order to sustain critical operations, save lives, and restore essential operations and services. To ensure, through preparedness and training, the continuity of operations during times of disasters, and to have effective plans, trained personnel, appropriate equipment, and streamlined procedures for emergency operations.
