Region VII News Media Contact Information

This page provides information about how news media representatives can reach our office.

The media plays a vital role in emergency management, especially during times of disaster. At FEMA Region VII we realize a clear, concise and timely response from our office allows reporters to do their jobs faster and better. The External Affairs staff in Region VII is available to provide news media staff with any assistance they may need.

If you have questions regarding Region VII (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska) programs, policies, disaster-response, or other FEMA-related inquiries, contact the news desk.

FEMA Region VII news desk: 816-283-7095. Please leave your phone number slowly, at least twice.

NOTE: When the president authorizes a major disaster declaration, media-inquiry response is relegated to personnel at FEMA’s Joint Field Office (JFO). This is usually in the capital of the state where the disaster was declared. In some cases, you may already have direct contact information for that office; however, you may call the Region VII News Desk and we will forward your inquiry to the appropriate office.
