Warrior Games

The Warrior Games, founded in 2010, are designed to introduce wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans to adaptive sports and encourage them to stay physically active when they return to their local communities following the event. The Warrior Games is an adaptive sport competition for wounded, ill, and injured service members and veterans.

Adaptive sports and athletic reconditioning play a key role in recovery and rehabilitation for wounded, ill, and injured Service members and veterans. They expose service members to opportunities for physical fitness and activity, and introduce them to sports and other activities they may not have participated in or even heard of before their wound, illness, or injury.

The Office of Warrior Care Policy provides oversight and support for the reconditioning programs for all Services. The reconditioning programs provide opportunities to participate in various sports that may lead a wounded, ill, or injured Service member to represent their branch of Service at the Warrior Games. Training camps and clinics, as well as daily adaptive activities overseen by the Office of Warrior Care Policy, can be part of an athlete’s preparation for participation in the Warrior Games.
