The military service academies contribute only about 20 percent of the officer corps in any given year. Are they worth the $400,000 or so they cost taxpayers per student? And do they produce the superior caliber of "leaders" they claim to -- as opposed to those produced by college ROTC programs and Officer Candidate School?
