Just heard from Charlie Partridge, dismissed today at Florida Atlantic after three seasons (9-27). Partridge said he "loved every second" of being at FAU but the efforts didn't translate into enough wins. He's a great recruiter and defensive coach and will catch on somewhere.

A few more names that will join Texas' coaching staff under new head coach Tom Herman: Sources confirmed to ESPN.com that Fernando Lovo, who was Houston's director of football operations, is joining Herman at Texas. Strength coach Yancy McKnight and the rest of Houston football strength staff will follow Herman also, according to sources. Lovo and McKnight were both on Herman's staff at Houston the last two years; Lovo was previously at Ohio State with Herman, McKnight was previously at Iowa State where Herman was an assistant in 2009-11 and also worked with Herman at Rice.

How unlikely is Colorado's run to the Pac-12 Championship game? According to FPI's preseason projections, the Buffs had a 0.8 percent chance to win the Pac-12 South and a 0.2 percent chance to win the Pac-12 championship. The job that Mike MacIntyre has done to turn the program around cannot be overstated.

California's bowl hopes are still not dead, but it's not looking good for the Golden Bears. After Saturday's results, there are 76 bowl-eligible teams for 80 spots and two five-wins teams, Louisiana Lafayette and South Alabama, play again next week. Because there will not be enough bowl-eligible teams to fill all the bowls, like last year, the vacancies will be filled by 5-7 teams prioritized by their multi-year APR scores. Currently, Cal (APR 960) ranks No. 5 behind North Texas (984), Texas (971), Mississippi State (971) and Northern Illinois (970). Texas isn't expected to accept an invitation, but Cal will also be behind whoever wins the game between Louisiana Lafayette (would become bowl eligible) and Louisiana Monroe (would be 5-7, APR 967). Even if South Alabama is upset by New Mexico State next week, Cal would still two teams, including Texas, to decline their invitation.

Warehime spent two seasons at Houston, both under Herman, and was at New Mexico and Sam Houston State before that. Warehime first crossed paths with Herman at Rice University in 2007.
