Supplemental Environmental Assessment for Hillsborough Fire Mitigation, Town of Hillsborough, San Mateo County, California (March 2013)

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) proposes to provide Federal financial assistance (Federal action) to the Town of Hillsborough (subapplicant or Town), through the California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA), for The Hillsborough Fire Hazard Mitigation and Fuel Reduction Program (Proposed Project).  The majority of the Town is in an area designated by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as a High Fire Hazard Severity Zone or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone(CAL FIRE 2007). The wildfire hazard in the Town poses a threat to public health and safety and to property. The purpose of the Federal action is to provide PDM Program Federal financial assistance to the Town, through CalEMA, to reduce the risk to people and property from wildfire damage.  This Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) has been prepared to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), as amended (42 U.S.C. §§ 4321–4327).
