Corey Coleman

Corey J. Coleman serves as the Chief Component Human Capital Officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  In this capacity, Mr. Coleman is responsible for implementing strategic human capital initiatives supportive of FEMA’s ability to build, sustain, and improve its capability to prepare for, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate all hazards.

Mr. Coleman was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as the FEMA Deputy Chief Component Human Capital Officer in April 2011 and in 2012 served as the Executive Director, Incident Workforce Management Division, Response Directorate.   Mr. Coleman brings multiple years of private and public sector human resources and organizational development experience.  Prior to beginning with FEMA, Mr. Coleman served in Human Capital leadership positions such as the Chief, Human Resources Information Technology Division and Assistant Human Resources Officer for the United States Secret Service (USSS).  In addition, Mr. Coleman, served at the Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Highway Administration where he co-led the establishment of the Executive Agent – a centralized staffing office for DOT.

Mr. Coleman holds a Master’s degree in Industrial – Organizational Psychology from Radford University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.  Mr. Coleman is a Doctoral candidate at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University majoring in public administration and public policy.
