Alyson Vert

Alyson Vert serves as FEMA's Executive Secretary and directs the Office of Executive Secretariat, whose mission is to provide outstanding support, analysis, communication services, and general assistance to FEMA’s Office of the Administrator.

Previously, Vert served as the Director and Designated Federal Officer for the FEMA National Advisory Council. More recently, Vert served as Chief of Staff to the National Flood Insurance Program’s Transformation Task Force for five months, ending in April 2016.

From 2006-2008, Vert served as a Special Assistant for Incident Management Systems Integration in the National Preparedness Directorate. She represented the Director in policy formulation and coordination, administered special projects, and assisted with the implementation of the National Incident Management System.

Vert began her career at FEMA as a Legislative Affairs Specialist in 2002 and was later detailed to the newly formed Department of Homeland Security as a Congressional Affairs Specialist, serving as the primary liaison for FEMA within the DHS Office of Legislative Affairs until April 2006. Prior to beginning her career with DHS/FEMA, Vert worked in issue management with a business unit of the American Chemistry Council and served nearly six years as a staff assistant on Capitol Hill.

She has Bachelor of Arts degrees in Political Science and Spanish from Clemson University, and a Master of Public Administration from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina, Joint Degree Program.
