This page provides information about the Regional Advisory Council, or RAC, for FEMA Region 6.
About the Council
Regional Advisory Councils, or RACs, were created at each of the 10 FEMA regions across the country to enhance communications and preparedness for future disasters as a result of the Post-Katrina Emergency Management Reform Act of 2006.
The FEMA Region 6 RAC was chartered in 2007 to advise the regional administrator on emergency management issues specific to the region. It is composed of approximately 20 men and women representing state, tribal, local, and academic emergency management and homeland security entities from the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. The council ensures effective and ongoing coordination of activities involving federal preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation for natural and manmade disasters.
The Region 6 RAC meets bi-annually, advising Regional Administrator Tony Robinson on a variety of issues to improve communications between the many levels of emergency management.
Management Analyst Kent Baxter serves as the coordinator for the Region 6 RAC. For greater information, please contact him at 940-898-5330.
