The Naval Audit Service is the Department of the Navy’s internal audit organization.  Our mission is to provide independent and objective audit services to assist Department of the Navy leadership in assessing risk to improve efficiency, accountability, and program effectiveness.

The Audit Service is led by the Auditor General of the Navy, who serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of the Navy, Chief of Naval Operations, and Commandant of the Marine Corps on all audit-related matters.

The Audit Service produces audit reports covering all facets of Department of the Navy operations, including acquisition/contracting, infrastructure, personnel, financial operations, etc.  We also provide forensic auditing assistance to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and Naval, Acquisition and Integrity Office, and Marine Corps Inspectors General.
