Military Kids Deploy Too! Web and Mobile Based Technology Can Help
Military children of all ages have experienced a parent or caregiver’s deployment. How can we enhance their resilience and coping skills so they can face the challenges of separation, increased responsibility and reintegration? This presentation describes what we heard from military children and their parents when we talked to them in a series of focus groups and how this was translated into developing the MilitaryKidsConnect.org website. This website is designed to help military kids (ages 6-17) face the challenges of a deployment using engaging and interactive activities and is useful to military parents and educators in home and school settings. This presentation also includes a discussion on how mobile technologies could be useful to military families.
