Cannon Air Force Base, N.M. -- Airmen of the 27th Special Operations Wing have the opportunity to promote their own morale and welfare while at Cannon Air Force Base.

The Air Commando Enlisted Society, or ACES, is an independent, Airmen-run organization meant to involve Airmen in strengthening their quality of life, and that of their service in the Air Force.

The organization is made up of junior-enlisted Airmen from various squadrons at Cannon. This creates an environment with a varied background and understanding of the Airmen’s needs. Everyone on the board has something to bring to the table.

The activities provided by ACES cross the board from providing Airmen with mentorship, social events, volunteer opportunities, and general meetings to inform Airmen of future opportunities and events.
“A lot of Airmen don’t know that we have a Facebook page that they can follow,” said Airman 1st Class Ryann Holzapfel, 27th Special Operations Public Affairs, and ACES Public Relations chair. “We post updates on the organization and it’s a great place to contact us.”

General meetings are held every first Tuesday of the month in the 551st auditorium and open to all members of the junior enlisted tier assigned to the 27th SOW.

“It has been great getting to work alongside Airmen and take ownership of our own morale,” said Airman 1st Class Brian Smith, 56th Special Operations Intelligence Squadron and ACES Vice President.

“We put on great events, we just wish we could get more involvement with our fellow Airmen. I feel like the opportunity is all there, it’s just about getting that extra boost to make it great.”
