Joint Spectrum Center (JSC) E3/SS Training

Topic
Long Description

Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and Spectrum Supportability (SS) Awareness training is fundamental to preventing and/or correcting EMI problems that may arise in the field and/or during a mission. In the past, billions of dollars could have been saved if personnel involved in the acquisition process or operational use of military systems and equipment were better trained to recognize and avoid EMI. For questions or to schedule a session at your location, contact j5training@disa.mil.

Join us for a half-day overview of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and Spectrum Supportability considerations for system acquisition, from policy and regulatory requirements to design and test methods - NO COST!

You will learn the proper ways to consider electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) and Spectrum Supportability (SS) concerns in the DoD systems acquisition process and an awareness of how E3 and spectrum certification concerns impact systems acquisition and an understanding of the tasks that must be undertaken during the acquisition process to ensure compatibility.

In particular, the Spectrum Supportability Risk Assessment, a recently mandated requirement from DoDI 4650.01, DoD Spectrum Use, will be highlighted - what it is, why its important and how to comply.

DAU ONLINE LEARNING CENTER

Access to DAU's online learning system for distance learning courses and continuous learning modules is currently restricted.

DAU is upgrading the registration system in a phased approach and hopes to restore access to all online and continuous learning modules for workforce members by the middle of September. Non-CAC (Common Access Card) holders will receive access early in fiscal year 12.

CLE018 - E3 and Spectrum Supportability (SS) for Acquisition Professionals

(DAU Continuous Learning Module)

Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and Spectrum Supportability (SS) for Acquisition Professionals introduces Program Office and acquisition management personnel to the proper ways to consider E3 and SS concerns in the DoD systems acquisition process. As electronic systems have evolved, they have become more complex, and electromagnetic environmental effects and spectrum supportability and certification requirements have become critical factors in the ability to employ military systems and platforms effectively. Reductions in the number of military platforms and personnel and increased reliance on technology means that controlling electromagnetic environmental effects on weapon systems is critical to future U. S. military success. Not accounting for E3/SS during systems design, production, and integration can result in degraded systems performance, program schedule delays, and funding issues. The objectives of this course are to give an appreciation of how electromagnetic environmental effects and spectrum certification concerns impact systems acquisition and to provide an understanding of the tasks that must be undertaken during the acquisition process to ensure compatibility. This module is targeted toward personnel involved in DoD system acquisition, Systems Engineering and Program Management.

This module takes approximately two hours to complete. It contains an end of module test that must be passed with a 100% score. You will have unlimited attempts to pass the test.

CLE047:  Grounding, Bonding and Shielding (DAU Continuous Learning Module)

This module provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of a properly grounded, bonded and shielded system for the minimization of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). Students become acquainted with specialized terminology, grounding schematics, bonding practices and types, and the basic rules for the implementation of shields to control radiated EMI. Students will be equipped with a baseline knowledge that will prepare them for real-time experience in the field.

This module takes approximately two hours to complete. It contains an end of module test that must be passed with a 100% score. You will have unlimited attempts to pass the test.

Upon completion of this module, you will receive 2 Continuous Learning Points (CLP), an electronic certificate of completion in your ATLAS account and a record of completion entered into your DAU Transcript.
