Line officer training is conducted by Detachment 12 and the 24th Training Squadron at Officer Training School (OTS) Maxwell AFB, AL. Line Officers consist of those career fields not directly commissioned into the USAF. This accessions program is comprised of two courses: Total Force Indoctrination Training (TFIT) and Total Force Officer Training (TFOT). TFIT is a seven day course that transitions directly into the 8 week TFOT course. ANG personnel are not required to attend TFIT, however are eligible and strongly encouraged to complete the entire 9 and a half week course. Fitness:Early in the program, cadets will be required to pass an AF Fitness Assessment. AFI 36-2905 contains specifics for the component minimums based on age and gender. It also addresses proper exercise form and the format of the test. Failure of the assessment may result in disenrollment.
Knowledge:The documents linked link below are vital to a cadet's success at OTS. A thorough reading should precede arrival.
Regardless of whether a cadet is moving from one component to another (i.e. Reserve to Active Duty), they should use the reporting instructions for their current status. These instructions will cover administrative items, uniform requirements, and various other matters pertaining to OTS.
Active Duty: All current active duty service members and those new to the AF joining the active duty force.
Air National Guard: All current members of the Air National Guard (Traditional or Active Guard Reserve).
Reserve: All current members of the Air Force Reserve (Traditional or Active Guard Reserve).
