It could be something you see stuntmen do in the movies. But this isn't the movies. These are actual road crew members manually placing raised pavement markers from underneath the applicator vehicle merely inches from highway traffic.

It's considered one of the most dangerous jobs in roadway construction. Until now.

With the advent of the Automated Roadway Pavement Marker System, the installation of raised pavement markers can now be performed more safely. The automated system eliminates the need for manual placement and therefore, reduces the road construction worker's exposure to traffic.

It removes the worker from coming in contact with the high-temperature bitumen and therefore, the potential for being severely burned, an injury that is not uncommon in the manual placement method.
