Acceptable Use Policy

All milSuite users will adhere to the milSuite Acceptable Use Policy. All products are monitored; users in violation of these rules may be prohibited from future participation or subject to more serious repercussions explained below. Any content posted that is deemed inappropriate will be deleted.

YOUR AFFIRMATIVE ACT OF USING MILSUITE SIGNIFIES THAT YOU AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY, THAT YOU CONSENT TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS PRESENTED ON THE MILSUITE LOGIN SCREEN, AND THAT YOU CONSENT TO RECEIVE REQUIRED NOTICES AND TO TRANSACT WITH US ELECTRONICALLY.

General Rules

  • Government-owned collaboration spaces constitute official interactions and communications, but they do not necessarily represent views of the home organization or any U.S. Government agency.
  • As a condition of using these government-owned capabilities, all users consent to the dissemination of their postings within the same environment where applicable and permissible through security restrictions.
  • Users may not post any material that is obscene, defamatory, profane, threatening, harassing, abusive, or hateful to another person, agency, organization, or other entity.
  • milSuite Administrators retain the right to delete inappropriate postings and revoke user privileges.
  • All users shall adhere to Department of Defense Web Policy where applicable for private internet services.

Content

  • Be sure to follow Military values when using collaborative capabilities.
  • All articles and content should pertain to work related topics and information.
  • Limit postings to UNCLASSIFIED material. If FOUO be sure to use appropriate markings when appropriate.
  • All content is monitored and stored along with the DMDC registered email and/or DoD enterprise username of all editors pertaining to content.
  • No promotion of any commercial products for financial gain (advertisements) or political affiliations.
  • Content submitted within the milSuite family of sites will not be exported to a public Web presence without consent of the original author of that content, security manager, and public affairs officer.

Profile and General Image Guidelines

By consenting to the milSuite Acceptable Use Policy you agree to a milSuite Profile created from data we retrieved using your Common Access Card courtesy of milConnect.

The following is not permitted in profile images or avatars:

  • Is an image of a person under the age of 18 (at the discretion of the user regarding family members)
  • Contains nudity
  • Includes hand gestures or a facial expression that represents a vulgarism or racial epithet
  • Displays or implies a sexual act or the elimination of bodily waste or spit
  • Presents a pose or posture that is gratuitous
  • Displays clothing that reveals more than would be appropriate for standard DoD office attire
  • Contains content that describes or implies an illegal act
  • Includes embedded content such as text or sub-images whose content is not appropriate under these guidelines
  • Contains or refers to content that describes or implies religious or political beliefs
  • Contains or refers to content that describes, implies or incites a violation of policy or regulation
  • Presents an OPSEC vulnerability
  • Contains Personally Identifiable Information (PII)

Legal

  • Reference all external sources of information.
  • Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner.
  • Do not use any words, logos or other marks that would infringe upon the trademark, service mark, certification mark, or other intellectual property rights of the owners of such marks without the permission of such owners.
  • Do not post any confidential information or any information that would infringe upon the proprietary, privacy or personal rights of others.
  • Do not post, upload, email or otherwise transmit any material containing software viruses or other computer code or files designed to interrupt, harm, delete, or otherwise interfere with or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment.
  • By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that it owns the copyright with respect to such material, has received permission from the copyright owner, or that the material is in the public domain. The posting party further warrants and represents that it otherwise has the full and unencumbered right to post such material and that such posting will not infringe any rights or interests of others. In addition, the posting party grants milSuite and users a non-exclusive, irrevocable license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or material in any manner following Information Assurance policies.

Security Notice

  • Except for authorized law enforcement investigations, no other attempts are made to identify individual users or their usage habits. Raw data logs are used for no other purposes and are scheduled for regular destruction in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration guidelines.
  • Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.
  • Your use of this system is subject to monitoring at all times. For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, this government computer system employs software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage.
