Women’s Health Toolkit
The amount of women’s health care resources that are offered increases each year. That is great news, because no matter a woman’s age, she can take steps to become healthier. These steps can include:
- Visiting a healthcare provider for a well-woman visit and preventive screenings
- Getting active and eating healthy
- Paying attention to mental health
- Avoiding unhealthy behaviors like smoking, texting while driving, and not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.
Let’s take care of our women by making them aware of the many types of services that they can utilize!
What do you need to know to effectively raise awareness about women’s health?
- More than 119,000 babies are born within the military health system each year.
- About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Annual mammograms are vital to early detection!
- 36.4% of women 20 years and over are obese
- 1/3 of all female deaths worldwide are due to cardiovascular disease and stroke
