The protocol office directly supports Joint Base Charleston's three Wing Commanders in planning & overseeing more than 200 annual official visits, military ceremonies, conferences, and other distinguished visitor (DV) activities.

They personally advise commanders and leaders from 53 distinct tenant units on a wide variety of issues, including protocol rules of etiquette, invitations, ceremonial events, receiving lines, scripts, programs, and event seating.

The protocol office also assists in the handling of all foreign visits working alongside the Base Foreign Disclosure Officer to ensure that foreign visits are properly cleared and routed for approval, and that any foreign dignitaries receive proper customs and courtesies.
