NGEN Phase of NMCI Contract Awarded

Fast FactOn June 27, the Department of the Navy announced the award of the Next Generation Enterprise Network (NGEN) phase of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) contract.

NGEN is the acquisition approach to providing enterprise network services that were originally consolidated in 2000 under the NMCI contract. NMCI is considered the U.S. government's largest information technology outsourcing program, and one of the largest intranets in the world. NMCI provides end-to-end secure IT services to more than 400,000 seats and 800,000 users, across 2,500 locations that vary from major bases to single user locations. NMCI is the DON's shore-based enterprise network in the continental United States, Hawaii and Japan. It provides a single integrated, secure IT environment for reliable, stable information transfer.

The NGEN phase represents the continuous evolution of the DON's enterprise networks and ensures continued access to secure, net-centric data and services to Navy and Marine Corps personnel.
