Federal assistance is available to homeowners, renters and business owners in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, McIntosh, Wayne, Evans, Liberty, and Long counties through a Presidential Major Disaster Declaration for Georgia.

SBA offers low interest loans to individuals
Homeowners, renters and business owners in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, McIntosh, Screven, Liberty, Camden and Wayne counties are eligible for low interest loans through the Small Business Administration. SBA Disaster Assistance Available to Businesses and Most Private NonProfits in GA
The disaster declaration now covers the counties of Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh and Wayne in Georgia, which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans: Appling, Brantley, Camden, Candler, Emanuel, Jenkins, Pierce, Screven and Tattnall in Georgia. Legal help is available to residents in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Liberty, Long, McIntosh, and Wayne who can't afford to hire a lawyer to deal with disaster related issues. More information here.
Georgia Disaster Survivors: Beware of Fraudulent Disaster Workers or Contractors
- When possible, contact government agencies using information posted on official websites or sources.
- Do not sign anything you do not fully understand, and do not sign contracts with blank spaces.
- Do not give out credit card or bank account information.
- FEMA does not have "approved" contractors. Beware of contractor who say they are affiliated with FEMA.

Debris Removal
Residents are asked to place Hurricane Matthew-generated debris in piles at the curb in front of their house as soon as possible. Debris pick-up includes woody, vegetative debris and other construction and demolition storm-related debris such as fencing, shingles, etc. Please separate woody, vegetative debris from other debris as there will be separate pick-ups for each (example).

Volunteer Information
Volunteer organizations are helping residents affected by Hurricane Matthew to clear trees and debris, muck out houses and make some repairs on private property. More information is available through the county emergency management agency.
