Join the Home Fire Campaign

The American Red Cross and our partners need your help as we work to reduce death and injury from home fires by 25% by 2020.

What is the Home Fire Campaign?

Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 66,000 disasters, the vast majority of which are home fires. So we set a goal to reduce fire-related deaths and injuries in the US by 25% by 2020.

On average:

  • 7 people die every day from a home fire
  • 36 people suffer injuries as a result of home fires every day
  • Over $7 billion in property damage occurs every year
  • Can your family escape in just 2 minutes? You can keep your family safe with 2 simple steps.

Our Partners in Home Fire Prevention

The American Red Cross Home Fire Campaign is made possible through the generous support of the following corporate and foundation supporters:

    kidde logo
Kidde is proud to donate smoke alarms with 10-year sealed batteries to the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign. It’s our way of helping to create a safer world, one community at a time.

Nationwide’s Make Safe Happen program, aimed at reducing accidental injuries to children, proudly supports the Red Cross’ goal to reduce home fire deaths 25% by 2020.

Members of our Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP) and Disaster Responder Program make annual commitments which enable the Red Cross to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters – like home fires – anytime and anywhere. Year after year, we continue to rely on their support to fulfill our mission.

The Red Cross is joining with fire departments and community groups nationwide to install smoke alarms in neighborhoods at greatest risk for home fires and engage youth in fire education and prevention efforts.
