Transportation Branch

Transportation Branch, G-4 Logistics Division, Marine Corps Base Quantico organizes and manages the Marine Corps National Capital Region Command's garrison mobile equipment (GME) fleet in such fashion as to maximize responsiveness, efficiency, effectiveness and economy of MCNCRC while fulfilling all valid transportation requirements.

Fleet Inventory Management

GME is commercially available Marine Corps owned or leased passenger vehicles, cargo vehicles, material handling equipment (MHE), and heavy equipment (HE) / engineer equipment. It includes vehicles procured from the General Services Administration (GSA). The MCNRC GME fleet comprises of equipment assigned in support of Marines Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC), Marine Corps Base Quantico and its tenants, and HQ BN Henderson Hall.

Motor Transport Operations

MCB Quantico Motor Transport Operation (MTO) provides transportation support to MCB Quantico, Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC) and tenant commands. Support for outside commands, units, and government or government-sponsored organizations are available on a reimbursable basis.  The MCB Quantico MTO and its Motor Pool are organized and managed to maximize responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness while fulfilling all valid transportation requirements.

Commuter Services:

A shuttle service supports Virginia Railway Express (VRE) commuters to their work locations aboard MCB Quantico, reducing traffic congestion on base.

Taxi service provides a safe, on call, no cost transportation service for CAC card-carrying Base employees. It provides travel for on base-to-on base destinations that exceed the minimum walking distance (1 mile). It also reduces the number of vehicles traveling aboard Base and helps to alleviate parking space congestion.

Vehicle Requests:

The MCB Quantico MTO provides the following types of support by the use of the vehicle request form:

Driver Provided Request
MCB Quantico units and tenant commands request support from MTO in the transportation of personnel or cargo.

U-Drive Request
The supported unit or organization requests the use of transportation assets and provides licensed operators in execution of their specific missions.  Requesting units or organizations are required to provide operators for all light/medium vehicles (sedans, vans below 15 passenger capacity and pick-up trucks) not requiring a specialty license.
