Hunting
Marine Corps Base, Quantico (MCBQ), offers a variety of hunting opportunities on approximately 58,000 acres. Although white-tailed deer and wild turkey are the most popular game species aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico hunters also enjoy pursuing waterfowl, rabbit, mourning dove, and grey squirrel. Each year over 1,500 active duty and retired military personnel and civilians hunt aboard MCBQ. In addition, MCBQ conducts special youth hunts and hosts the Wounded Warrior Regiment for annual white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and waterfowl hunts. MCBQ has an active management program that includes maintaining and planting over 300 acres of wildlife openings, erecting waterfowl nest boxes and hunting blinds, and conducting prescribed burns to increase understory forage.

Bear at StationDeer hunting aboard MCBQ is limited to archery tackle, shotgun with slug, or muzzleloading rifle greater than .45 caliber. Some training areas are designated as archery only. Please consult  the MCBQ hunting map to make sure you are using a properly authorized weapon within the training area to which you are assigned. Basic rules for hunting aboard MCBQ and check-in/check-out procedures are covered in the hunter orientation video. Detailed rules and regulations, as well as check-in/check-out procedures can be found in the MCBQ Hunting Regulations and Hunting Bulletin.

A background check will be initiated and hunters can come by the GCS after 3 working days to view the orientation video (approximately 30 minutes) before being issued a MCBQ hunting license. The GCS accepts ONLY cash or check. Valid license holders may scout on MCBQ from 1 September until the last day of spring turkey season.
