Adam Gorlitsky of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, poses with his exoskeleton, which assisted him in completing the last 6.2 miles of the Marine Corps Marathon. Gorlitsky suffered a tragic car accident 11 years ago which left him paralyzed from the waist down. He founded an organization called IGotLegs.org to bridge the gap between awareness and support to veterans on the road to recovery.

NCINCR-MCB Quantico Commander Col. Joseph M. Murray greeted players and spectators at the 2016 Armed Forces Men’s Basketball Championship in the Barber Physical Activity Center Tuesday morning. 
Following his comments, spectators filled the bleachers for tip-off of the first game: Marine Corps vs. Air Force. The round-robin tournament began Tuesday, with every team playing each other twice. The top teams will face off in the championship game Monday, Nov. 7. Marine Corps players represent installations around the world, including MCAS New River, MCAS Cherry Point, MCLB Albany, MCB Camp Lejeune, MCB Butler, Okinawa, MCB Camp Lejeune and the Pentagon.

Jim Cook, Retired Marine, Range & Training Area Management civilian and avid hunter of deer and small game utilized the skinning shed at the game check station. Jim shared the story of his successful crossbow hunt with Col. Murray, Commanding Officer, MCINCR-MCBQ and Brad Watkin, Wildlife Biologist, NREA.

Frederick Padilla, president of the National Defense University at Fort McNair, Washington, D.C., gives a keynote address during the National Hispanic Heritage Month Luncheon hosted by Marine Corps Systems Command Oct. 13, at The Clubs at Quantico. Padilla, whose father was an officer in the U.S. Air Force and whose grandfather served in the Army during World War I, shared the story of how his grandparents came to live in America. “My story is not unique,” Padilla said. “It’s an American story. We all have an American story.” Padilla also talked about Marine Staff Sgt. Riayan Tejeda, who was killed in combat in Iraq in 2003, and posthumously granted U.S. citizenship. Shannon Sanderlin and Arika Brown, festive friends and HMX-1 spouses attended Pink Ribbon Bunco. Sixty ladies dressed in pink and arrived to The Clubs at Quantico October 14, to experience a night of fun and education. This is the seventh year Pink Ribbon Bunco has been hosted by Semper Fit Health Promotion.
