BEAVER, W. Va. -- Federal disaster assistance funding has reached $12.6 million to help homeowners, renters, business owners, and government agencies in West Virginia recover from the June 2010 flooding.
BEAVER, W. Va. -- Officials working on the June storm recovery in West Virginia remind residents with storm-related losses to register for disaster assistance by Monday, Aug. 23, 2010 and to stay in touch through toll-free phone lines. Specialists with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are available every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to help applicants register and keep up with the progress on their requests for help. BEAVER, W. Va. -- For many West Virginians with property losses from the June storms, a completed U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) disaster loan application is as essential to recovery as a mop. While federal grants are one form of recovery help, another key resource is the low-interest disaster assistance loan from the SBA for repairs and replacement of flood-damaged real estate and personal property. $765,000 in loans has been approved for homeowners and renters through Saturday, July 24.
BEAVER, W. Va. – June storms and flooding in West Virginia may have created ripple effects that are more difficult to measure than the height of flood water on a living room wall. The upheaval can affect the mental health of children and adults, sometimes in very different ways. Several local mental health providers in West Virginia are partnering with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help area residents for free. They are taking referrals from FEMA and talking with applicants for FEMA assistance who want help coping with loss and changed circumstances.
