ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has extended the Schoharie County Sheriff's Office contract set to expire tonight. The Sheriff's Office made an agreement with FEMA in December to use its officers as security guards for the staging area where FEMA Temporary Housing Units are being stored.

ALBANY, N.Y. – A state and federal Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) will open in Circleville in Orange County on Tuesday, Nov. 15, for two days to serve those affected by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. The center will be set up in Circleville Fire Station No. 1 at 2147 State Route 302. Operating hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday. The DRC will close at 8 p.m. Nov. 16.

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York residents are being encouraged by state and federal recovery officials to obtain any necessary building permits before starting new construction or repairs to property damaged by Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee. “Getting building permits is necessary for those with homes or businesses damaged by the storms,” said Federal Coordinating Officer Philip E. Parr. “Residents need to know that permits are based on local codes and ordinances enforced by the community.”
